Position Summary
The Director of Sales & Marketing is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding distributor engagement, and strengthening our brand presence within the promotional products industry. This role oversees sales strategy, marketing initiatives, and team development while ensuring alignment with company goals. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the promotional products ecosystem—supplier or distributor side—with a strong understanding of decoration processes, sourcing, and distributor sales cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute sales strategies tailored to the promotional products market, including distributor outreach, program development, and channel expansion.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team, establishing KPIs around distributor engagement, order growth, and new account acquisition.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with top distributors, buying groups, and key industry partners.
- Identify new product opportunities, decoration trends, and vertical markets to expand revenue.
- Oversee pricing strategy, margin management, and forecasting based on industry seasonality and demand cycles.
- Represent the company at industry events (PPAI Expo, ASI Shows, regional associations).
Marketing & Brand Management
- Develop integrated marketing strategies that support distributor sales, including digital campaigns, catalogs, sample kits, and trade show initiatives.
- Collaborate with product development and sourcing teams to launch new items, decoration capabilities, and seasonal programs.
- Manage brand positioning, messaging, and marketing collateral tailored to distributor needs. (This includes Website and Industry Association Platforms)
- Analyze industry trends, competitive activity, and customer insights to guide product and marketing strategy.
- Oversee CRM usage, lead generation, and pipeline management with a focus on distributor lifecycle engagement.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with operations, sourcing, and customer service to ensure seamless order execution, accurate proofs, and on‑time delivery.
- Align sales and marketing initiatives with inventory planning, decoration capacity, and fulfillment capabilities.
- Work closely with leadership to present performance updates, market insights, and strategic recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (MBA a plus).
- 7–10+ years of sales and marketing leadership experience, preferably within promotional products, advertising specialties, or B2B manufacturing.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and leading high‑performing teams.
- Strong understanding of distributor networks, ASI/PPAI environments, pricing models, and product sourcing.
- Familiarity with decoration methods (screen print, embroidery, laser, pad print, digital, etc.) and production workflows.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, marketing automation, and analytics tools.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working for a promotional products supplier or distributor.
- Established relationships with major distributors or buying groups.
- Leadership of inside and field sales teams.
- Trade show planning and execution within the promotional products industry.
